Branches Outpatient for Adolescents

Whether transitioning from an inpatient stay or needing specialized treatment while still at home, school or in the community, we offer multiple levels of care to meet individual needs and goals of adolescents. Our programs are designed for youth ages 12 to 17 who may need improved functioning with mental health or substance use (SUD) challenges. Families are essential to the adolescent’s treatment success and thus are involved from the initial assessment to treatment planning and discharge. Outpatient programs and services for youth are offered in-person only at our Branches Jamaica Plain location.

Our specialty-trained professionals offer services that may include medication management, psychiatric care, therapies and case management. Treatment may cover topics such as coping skills, stress management, personal safety and relapse prevention, and may include elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)

PHP is an intensive, highly structured day treatment program that promotes healthy skill development through evidence-based group therapies. This program offers full-day treatment and support for the patient in a community setting. PHP requires in-person attendance, five days each week, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, for two to three weeks for most patients. School tutoring during the school year, lunch and snacks are provided.

Traditional Outpatient Services

We also offer individual, group and family psychotherapy/counseling and medication management for youth. Availability and waitlists may vary for these services and current patients stepping down from other Arbour Hospital and Branches services may get priority over patients referred from the community for only these services.

If symptoms initially present or worsen during outpatient treatment or an initial assessment, we may recommend inpatient admission for stabilization.
