Adolescent Inpatient Hospitalization

We offer inpatient hospitalization services for adolescents who are having a mental health crisis that presents a danger to themselves and/or others. This is for adolescents experiencing suicidal thoughts, significant changes in daily functioning, delusions, changes in eating or sleeping, or excessive and debilitating emotional distress. Some of these teens may also be exhibiting dangerous behaviors or are struggling with substance use issues.

Treatment During Inpatient Stay

During an inpatient stay, adolescent patients may receive a psycho-social assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, group and family therapies, therapeutic activities, life-skills training, medication education, nutritional counseling and discharge planning. Patients are treated in a therapeutic environment that provides medical and psychiatric stabilization as well as 24-hour nursing care.

The adolescent program uses principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and solution-focused therapy in group therapies, which enables patients to take an active role in their stabilization and recovery. The goals of the program are to foster growth toward stability and recovery, identify the underlying issues, provide a diagnosis and help our patients begin a path toward success.

Discharge Planning

Inpatient stay is often just the first step to building stability and recovery. Discharge planning begins at admission and involvement of the adolescent’s family or guardian is essential to ensuring healthy outcomes. Our team of social workers, psychiatrist, nurses, discharge planners and clinical staff will develop a plan to continue treatment and follow-up care for sustainable treatment success.

We offer many of the services necessary after an inpatient stay, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP) and traditional outpatient counseling and medication management.
